Surfing is a great activity to do in Mosteiros.
There are three point breaks: port right, port left and beach right. The beach works best in a west swell direction, port left breaks good in a south to southwest swell and the port right breaks good in a north-northwest swell. This makes it likely to find waves here, no matter what direction the swell’s coming. A plus is the very uncrowded peaks, so there’s plenty of waves to share.
For those who love underwater life, fishing, spearfishing, diving and snorkelling are also activities with excellent conditions in Mosteiros.
The rocky bottoms with several bays and the natural pools allow easy access to the water, regardless of individual skill. The water is clear and abundant with life, so it’s possible to observe several different species, of impressive size, such as white seabream, greater amberjack, barracudas, dusky grouper, moray eel and giant stingray, and even turtles, can be seen in shallow waters and not far from the shore.
Sea birds, like the corey’s shearwater, and even dolphins and whales are possible to observe from the shore.
Kayaking along the coastline and around the islets is also beautiful, especially in the summer months, when there’s no swell.
